How Geiger Truck Parts Helps
A customer in Southern Illinois had a major engine failure on what was determined to be a marginally designed engine.
According to Doug Geiger, president of Geiger Truck Parts, the company is helping its customer replace his smaller engine with a much larger version. Geiger is making sure the customer has the frame section for all the mounts and the necessary hardware. They also are providing him with a cooling module, which includes the radiator and air conditioning condenser and all the lines.
“This way the larger size engine that he can transplant into his truck will result in the customer having a more valuable piece of equipment that has a longer life,” Geiger says.
Jerry Vanderhei operates Vanderhei Trucking LLC, a firm that hauls sand, stone, dirt and other materials for the construction industry. He is a long-time customer of Geiger Truck Parts and has referred others to the business.
Recently, Vanderhei purchased a transmission from Geiger Truck Parts and installed it in his vehicle along with a new clutch, bearing and through shaft. “When I installed it, there was a slight vibration,” Vanderhei said. He contacted Geiger and was told to bring the vehicle in. Vanderhei left the truck with the Geiger staff so they could determine what was wrong. It turns out the problem was not with the newly installed transmission. “They called me and told me there was a broken tooth on the rear end.”
Vanderhei appreciated the fact that the Geiger staff looked beyond the obvious to find the cause of the vibration.
“I am very happy with them and over the last year I probably have sent 12 to 14 people down to see them,” Vanderhei said.
Eric Vaughn of Ron’s Tractor and Trailer Specialist is the second member of his family to rely on Geiger Truck Parts. Vaughn’s father was a Geiger customer and Eric has continued that tradition for the diesel mechanic shop he operates in Bartonville, IL which is known for working on truck transmissions, engines, clutches and differentials as well as trailers.
Vaughn recently had a transmission that he could not get the back yoke off of because it was twisted on the shaft. “Geiger threw one in the truck and immediately drove it down to me so I could get it into the truck and make sure my customer was satisfied,” he says.
He says that in addition to quick delivery, Geiger helps with technical advice. “Some of the older trucks that we work on have lost their tag, so Geiger walks us through it and tells us what we need to look for measure so we get the right part for the repair.”
He adds, “Geiger has treated us great, got me things in a timely fashion and always give me good deals.”
